Dog and Cat Licenses must be renewed yearly in January.
Please keep your pets’ license up to date.

LYME DISEASE
Plan ahead to avoid TICKS by using insect repellants when appropriate and spraying clothing and shoes that are worn for hikes, yard work and play with permethrin products.  Residents are also advised to keep a tick remover on hand (the latter two products are available at specialty stores).  Lyme disease can be avoided. Planning ahead and responding appropriately to an exposure can greatly reduce the risk of contracting the disease.  Please call the Health Department or your doctor with any questions.

BOARD OF HEALTH ORDINANCES
Please be informed of two Board of Health Ordinances passed in 2002 and 2003.  Ordinance number BH2003-01 prohibits the feeding of any type of waterfowl in the Borough of Mt. Arlington on lands either publicly or privately owned.
Ordinance number BH2002-01 prohibits the presence of any dog, cat or other domesticated animal in any public building, park or recreation area in the Borough of Mt. Arlington.  For more information regarding these Ordinances, please contact the Board of Health Secretary at (973) 398-6832 Ext. 13.

The Board of Health has had several complaints of residents not cleaning up after their dog.  Please be informed of Ordinance Ch. 186. 1-3 Animal Sanitation.  Any person who owns, harbors, keeps or is in charge of a dog shall immediately remove all feces deposited by such dog in a sanitary manner.

Any person who violates any Ordinance of the Borough of Mt. Arlington is subject to a summons and a fine up to $1,500.00.
