The Department of Public Works should be called for questions regarding the recycling center or the chipping service. Please call 973-398-4200 for the Department of Public Works. All other questions regarding curbside garbage disposal and white metal/metal pick-ups please call the Utility Department at 973-398-6832 ext. 14.
RECYCLING CENTER
Center Hours: Saturdays only: 8:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
Co-Mingle: Plastic (1 and 2 only), we only accept #1 and #2 plastic. Other numbers on containers mean it is garbage.
No propane tanks are allowed at the Recycling Center, we do not accept them. Glass bottles, cans, tin and aluminum only.
Unacceptable Items: Window glass, mirrors, furniture, plastic bags, vinyl siding, propane tanks, gas tanks, paint cans, light bulbs, ceramics, construction materials of any kind, gas diesel, motor oils, antifreeze, kerosene, driveway sealer, aerosols,
prescription bottles, syringes, styrofoam, and power equipment with gasoline and oil not removed. Also latex paint is not accepted.
These paints are not hazardous and should be dried out and disposed of with regular household trash.
No Brush or Tree Trimmings will be accepted. NO TIRES WILL BE ACCEPTED.
What CAN be Recycled ...
Junk Mail (magazines, mail order catalogs, paper, phone books, greet cards, flyers, envelopes, manila folders, postcards, soft covered books & glossy newspaper inserts): Newspapers (any inserts delivered with newspaper should be thrown in with Junk Mail): For curbside pickup, place in brown paper bag or bundle with string. May also bring to Borough’s
Recycling Center and place in appropriate recycling bin
Corrugated Cardboard (double-walled cardboard, shipping cartons, shoe boxes, pizza boxes, paper towel/toilet paper holders, gift boxes, food & cereal boxes with liners removed): For curbside pickup, cardboard must be clean, carton must be empty and flattened; tie into bundles or placed in brown paper bags. May also bring to Borough’s Recycling Center.
SEWER USERS
Important: No garbage disposals in sinks.
Do not flush cat litter, dirt, feminine hygiene products, diapers, fish, rags or dental floss.
Grinder Pumps: If alarm sounds for grinder pump, do not use any water.
Water: Make sure water meters are kept warm in Winter, and free from drafts. Repair any leaks as soon as possible.

Potholes and Catch Basins: Please call to report.
